Howdy Rexi ... Texas? Already have the T-Shirt. Escaped a dozen years ago after my second incarceration there. Thought I would retire back to Austin. But no. Not with those millions fighting to get to the grocery store and back plus the Austin Hill Country infested with Dallas McMansions. The only times I get close to Tejas nowadays is peering down upon it as a jet rockets me from my Ozark hilltop to deep into Mexico. Gracias. Esta bueno!
ReplyDeleteAhhh. Why am I writing this? Why are you reading this? It's because you and I have a mutual friend and when I discovered such I realized I have a little gift for you which I hope you will like.
Last night I tripped and fell into your Pinterest (blame Google) which I found you had dedicated to Molly Ivins. Way back in the way back days I worked with Molly at the Texas Observer when she and Kaye Northcutt were the editors. I so enjoyed being around her and watching here stir her magic. Molly was only four years older than me, yet it's taken me five decades to gain half the mastery she already had as a writer from the git-go.
Which is not to say I cannot, willy-nilly, string thousands of words together quickly given the ink. But I will spare you and couper à la chasse. (My French is ladened with a heavy Texas drawl)
Last week I began a poster project titled 'The American Patriots'. Two posters tentatively finished ... one for Woody Guthrie and one for Molly. Edward Snowden and Edward Abbey are next.
